Carpe Diem is a fully equipped self catering guest house. It is surrounded by a sweeping view of the fynbos covered Goukamma nature reserve and faced with the greatness of the Indian Ocean expanding from east to west with Buffalo Bay in the distance. Carpe Diem is located 10 minutes from the center of Knysna and within easy reach of all the attractions in the area. It is 2 minutes’ drive from a 7 km stretch of unspoilt beach and pristine coastline, stretching from Brenton on Sea to Buffalo Bay .

The spacious open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge has a sliding door leading onto a wooden deck with spectacular views overlooking the Indian Ocean and Goukamma Nature Reserve. The lounge and dining area enjoy spectacular views as well.

The lounge has a comfortable lounge set, DSTV, bar area and a cosy fireplace, ideal for winter days. The dining area has an 8-seater dining table and the kitchen is fully equipped. The main bedroom has a double bed with beautiful sea views. The 2nd bedroom has two single beds with stunning sea views. The third bedroom has two single beds and the fourth bedroom a double bed. There is a lock-up double garage.


Location and Map

Carpe Diem guest house is situated in Brenton on Sea, Knysna, at a distance of 500 kms from Cape Town, 60 kms from the George airport.

Directions from Port Elizabeth and Cape Town
Follow the N2 in the direction of Knysna. From Port Elizabeth, turn right just after the white bridge leading over the lagoon, just outside of Knysna Town. From Cape Town, turn left just before the white bridge leading over the lagoon. (Follow signposts for Brenton on Sea and Belvidere). The road leads under the bridge, carries on for approx 8km along a scenic tar road until you get to the sea. The Area: The Garden Route

Brenton

Brenton-on-Sea offers safe beaches, paragliding, fishing and a beautiful view from the town to Buffelsbaai across the bay.

The 15 minute trip between Brenton and Knysna is one of the most scenic routes in South Africa, with an awesome combination of lagoon, mountain and sea views. Along the road there are viewing stops to enjoy the stunning surroundings. Brenton Blue Butterfly Nature Reserve is situated in Brenton on Sea.

Beaches
Brenton On Sea has a 7 km unspoilt beach, with golden sands and is just minutes away. The long stretch of pristine beach is bathed in the colours of unequalled sunsets almost every day and invites you to enjoy long, relaxing walks.

Adventure
Bring your own boat: you’re only 2 kom from the Brenton on Lake jetty offering access to the beautiful Brenton lake. The many rivers and lakes around Knysna offer unlimited boating opportunities, both scenic and adventurous. The world's highest bungy jump is less than an hour’s drive away. Other adventures include paragliding, tree top canopy adventures, river rafting, canoeing, abseiling, scuba diving, mountain biking or fishing. Get up close and personal with Southern-right whales and dolphins and watch the seals play, with Ocean Safari's. Go horse riding through the forest or on our unspoilt beaches. Sight Seeing
The historical town of Knysna with its interesting water front and many shops is the turning stop of the Outeniqua steam train along the coastline. Visit the Noetzie castles outside Knysna, an oyster Farm in Knysna or take a ferrie ride to the Heads and Featherbed Reserve on the Knysna lake.

Golf
This area is a golfer's paradise. Visit one of the various PGA registered golf-courses along our beautiful coastline. There are many golf courses in the area, the closest golf course being in Knysna, 15 min's drive from the guest house.

Wildlife
The many Nature Reserves in and around the Knysna area are unforgettable; enjoy many hiking trails in the Knysna forest. Enjoy the Cheetah farm, the Knysna Elephant Park and see the Knysna Seahorses in the Knysna Lagoon. The Featherbird Nature Reserve captures the scenic splendour of Knysna in a unique way. Visit the crocodile farm in George and many world-famous ostrich farms in Oudtshoorn. Touch leopards at a wildlife ranch. Close to Plettenberg Bay you can enjoy Monkey Land and Birds of Eden, the largest open air Aviary in the world. Nature's vallei is 1.5 hours' drive along the coast towards Port Elizabeth.
